I mentioned in this week's Thankful Thursday that I'm thankful for my Lightscoop. It was a birthday gift from my parents, but I didn't really use it much over the summer. I got it out the other night to take some updated photos of Elijah and remembered why it's such a great gadget. Rather than spending big bucks on an external flash for my camera, I can pop on this little $25 mirror and adjust a few settings, then bounce my camera's built-in flash off the ceiling or wall to avoid those awful direct-flash shots. One of these days if I get really motivated I'll take the same picture with the Lightscoop and with direct flash so you can see the dramatic difference. So basically it gives you a non-flash look when you actually "need" flash. I try to do all I can to not use flash, but there are times you just have to. I'll take a look at this!

Yes, Danielle, exactly. I try to use natural light whenever possible, but lots of times indoors, even with my 50/1.8 lens, it still makes for too-slow shutter speeds. And this pic, for example, was taken indoors at night--flash is unavoidable. But the Lightscoop lets you avoid all the gross things that come with flash. I think the price went up because they revamped it right after I got mine--they used to sell different ones for Nikon, Canon, etc, but now it's a universal one. Still cheaper than an external flash, though. (Of course an external flash is lots more powerful and versatile--this has its limitations--but for an amateur like me it was a good buy.)
I asked for an external flash attachment for Christmas this year...it is looking more like I may have to settle for a lightscoop so I'm glad to hear you are fond of yours.
