Realistic Expectations

"He who grows in grace remembers that he is but dust, and he therefore does not expect his fellow Christians to be anything more. He overlooks ten thousand of their faults, because he knows his God overlooks twenty thousand in his own case. He does not expect perfection in the creature, and, therefore, he is not disappointed when he does not find it." --Charles Spurgeon

"Dear Lord," the preacher began with arms extended and a rapturous look on his upturned face, "without you we are but dust..."

He would have continued, but at that moment one very obedient little girl (who was listening carefully) leaned over to her mother and asked quite audibly in her shrill little girl voice, "Mommy, WHAT is butt dust?"

Sorry... I couldn't resist! :)

On a serious note, this is a POWERFUL quote. I need to remember this quote while driving, interacting with my husband/family members, waiting a loooong time in the drive thru etc.

I was just thinking about this topic the other day. Funny how God seems to teach me things by bringing it "up" in several places.

Thanks, Amy!

Maybe I'll see you this weekend!

haha...nice, Kelly :)

God seems to teach me in the same way. He knows that if He only brings it up once, I'm too dense to get it--but if He hammers it into my head from three or four directions, I usually wake up and pay attention!
