Wonder No More

A comment below reminded me of what I've often thought when reading pregnant friends' blogs. You just can't go several days without blogging because people will wonder if you're in labor.

Wonder no more, my friends, I am still at home, huge and uncomfortable. One of the precious little GEMS girls not-so-politely informed me on Sunday that I look like I'm having twins. Thanks. The clock is ticking but I am hoping not to deliver Baby Kannel for a few more weeks, not only so he/she is completely grown and healthy, but so that I can accomplish about four hundred things on my to-do list first. When is that nesting thing supposed to kick in, anyway? I unfortunately do not feel any extra energy or motivation yet.

I haven't written this week because I just haven't had much to say, frankly. Or rather, I've had plenty of thoughts, but have been processing them in my private journal rather than rambling on here about pregnancy and parenting--probably not interesting to most of you :)

Tell you what...I'll try to check in more often over the next couple of weeks. And starting August 1, I'll try to post every day until we go to the hospital. That way, if no post shows up one day, you'll know we're having a baby :)

Ahh...you just brought quite the smile to my face at 2:24pm in the work day. :)

Pregnancy & parenting...topics all the females reading will love, no matter how much rambling is involved. The males can just deal with it. Though, the private journal approach is understandable & deserves our respect.

I, for one, can't wait for "THE" post. I'm sooo excited.

I know you feel huge and uncomfortable, but is there any way we can have an updated belly-shot? PLEASE????? (Oh...nursery pictures would be good too. We haven't seen it since it was painted.)

Love to all 3 of you!

PS. "NESTING": Climbing into the back of your 2-door Sunfire to meticulously vaccum and scrub every surface INCLUDING the back window because said car HAS to be clean before baby arrives DESPITE the fact that climbing in to preform the cleaning of even the most invisibile spots will ultimatly result in the need to climb OUT of the back of said car with (mind you) a 9 1/2 month pregnant stomach and no one around to help you out, take off a door or remove the front seat of the fore-mentioned 2 door Sunfire. THIS....is nesting.

PPS. It happened within a few days before I went into labor.

Thank you for posting! I was starting to wonder :) FYI, I love to hear your "ramblings" as you call them, on pregnancy and parenting, so feel free to continue! Also, I don't think I ever nested. I had a bunch of things I wanted done, but never seemed to find the energy to do them. It still turned out ok. The important things eventually got done, and I've obviously been ok with the ones that haven't :) Try and sit down and rest, because soon words like "sleep, rest, relax" will be a distant memory! Hang in there Ames, you can DO IT!!! :)

I thought I was nesting about a week ago and now this week I am being lazy. So I don't really know what that means. Maybe I'll get a surge of energy before Grace is born, but if not, no big deal. I just hoping she comes around her due date :)

Has your midwife told you when she thinks the baby might come?

nope, no predictions...up until now the focus has just been on making it this far :) I don't have any desire for predictions anyway; they really have no idea and I don't want to get my heart set on a certain day. that's why we haven't generally told people my specific "due date"--we have seen too many people drive themselves bananas when the due date comes and goes. I'd like to avoid that if possible, as well as avoid everyone ELSE driving me nuts with the "is the baby here yet? how about now? today?" :)

they say first-time moms average 8 days past their EDD...I was 6 past and Steve was three WEEKS late! so, really it could be anytime in August--hopefully not past September 1--we'll see.
