Smoothie No-No

Though it may seem like a great idea, given all the extra fiber and protein, don't ever attempt to put Brewer's Yeast in your homemade smoothie. Even if you don't use near the serving size, the yogurt and berries do not cover up the shockingly awful taste.

I learn these things so you don't have to.

Actually, I have a really good recipe for a drink (it's not really a smoothie) with Brewer's Yeast, milk, banana, etc. that is supposed to help with milk production, which I started drinking after I had the twins. If you want it, I can give you the recipe. I thought it was really good and started craving it! It only has a few tablespoons of Brewer's Yeast though.

I put brewers yeast in my smoothies...and I love the taste...although it is an acquired taste, and it helps to put just a teaspoon or two into a serving...try it again using less yeast..over time the taste may grow on you and you may find yourself craving it....remember: sometimes less is more...

Ha! Thank you for passing this on! I was just thinking about how I should try protein shakes. I can't believe how much protein we're supposed to be consuming during this last trimester!
I'm eating eggs and meat for every meal! :-( I am quickly discovering that I really don't like meat that much.
You're so close! You're so close! I'm so excited for you to have this baby!!

Danielle, I'd love to see the recipe...but I sure hope the banana and whatever else goes better with the BY than raspberries and vanilla yogurt. I only put about two heaping teaspoons in with over a cup of yogurt, a bunch of berries and another cup or so of milk...and it was gag-worthy.
