It feels good to come back to blogging. Any longer than a two-month hiatus would, I'm sure, effectively kill the blog--so in an effort to preserve my four remaining readers, I'm resuming regular posting. Thanks for your patience.
The last two months have been both gloriously full and strangely empty, and I have plenty to say about them--if I can find the words. You can expect several upcoming fluff posts, with pictures of our recent beach vacation and our trip home to Ohio...but besides that, I do have some more meaningful things on my mind.
There are, I believe, writers who blog/bloggers who write--but somewhere along the way, I became a blogger who blogged. Nothing wrong with that necessarily, but for me it meant I stopped using the gift I'd been given. For some inexplicable reason(s)--fear? laziness? vague inner turmoil?--I quit writing. Blogging was a substitute rather than an outlet.
It seems I had to stop blogging to write. After two months of hiatus, my desire to write still vastly outpaces my practice of the craft, but I have at least been writing. It's a start. And now I think I'm ready to return to the blog. I'll still be bringing the lighthearted life-update posts and the gratuitous photos of my adorable son, but I've always wanted this blog to be more than that. I want to share with you my heart, in all of its muddy complexity. I hope you'll keep coming by to read--it means the world to me.

I can't wait to see pictures and see what's on your mind! I'm just so happy you're still going to blog!
Hi Amy,
I found your blog from a link on Todd and Micah Nicholson's blog. My husband and I both went to IWU (graduated in '03) and he was Todd's roommate in college (they grew up together). Anyways, just wanted to say Hi and let you know that I feel like you're a better writer than you give yourself credit for. I found your blog not too long before your hiatus. I enjoyed your Thankful Thursday posts. They always made me reflect on what I'm thankful for. I'm a blogger who just blogs and also always wish that my posts had a bit more substance. Feel free to check our blog out if you would like. I look forward to reading yours in the future. Take care :)
WooHoo! I was hoping you'd come back. :*)
Good Amy. You were my regular read, and since you've been gone, I've been bored!
Woops! I lost my last comment out there somehow.
Welcome back! I've missed your writing. There's plenty of room for both Fluff and Stuff, so bring it on--along with gratuitous pictures of that beautiful baby!
Welcome back!
See...you have more than four readers! :) Welcome back.
Looking forward to you resuming your blog. I know what you mean about bloggers who blogs vs. bloggers who write. When I started my blog it was a way to exercise my gift in writing and to get me back into the practice after being burnt out from college. It's not really that anymore, though. I guess I've become a blogger who blogs, but really I think that's because God has allowed other avenues for me to write for now and I use up all my energy writing articles so that I end up not really writing as much for my blog. I'd like to get back into that a big more, though. Regardless, I understand that the "desire to write still vastly outpaces my practice of the craft." True.
Welcome back! I always enjoyed your posts and have kept you on my blogroll anticipating this moment. Your gift and talent is too great not to share!
Yay! your back:) I have been missing you, I can't wait to hear about life, and what's happening and what's on your mind and the lessons you're learning:) if that's not a run-on, I don't know what is:) Anyway, love you and glad you'll be blogging again my friend.
I would have to ditto Kayla's comment. It is great to be reading your site again!
I'm glad you're back! I'm looking forward to reading your blog again :)
Yea! I'm glad you're back, I've missed you :)
