Ugly Light

So I was all about those CFL lightbulbs. Saving money, helping the environment, all that. Sign me up.

Yesterday both bulbs blew out in the main overhead light in our kitchen. Steve had bought the CFLs a while back, so he put them in. But honestly? I hate the way they make the kichen look. The light just looks fluorescent--cold and industrial, not warm and homey. It makes my butter-yellow walls look a yucky lemon.

Do they make CFLs that don't give off such atrocious light?

You can by the CFL bulbs in different tints. I have some that are pure white light and others that are softened-yellow. In general though, they look much better if you cover them up with some sort of lamp cover.

Ours in the kitchen aren't bare...there is a globe over them. Still hideous.
