Getting Into the Spirit of Christmas

Nothing says "Happy Birthday, Jesus" like crazed shoppers stampeding at 4 a.m. to go into debt for electronics and other expensive crap. After running to the store today out of necessity--not in search of a great deal, but having to pick up something I needed at regular price--I was reminded of why I avoid the mall on Black Friday at all costs. I will never, ever understand the appeal of shopping today.

A lunch date with my hubby...Christmas music on the radio...my parents' house decked out with red, green and white lights outside...a free adjustment and massage at the chiropractor in exchange for bringing a toy for a local charity...and coffee with a dear, dear friend--now THAT'S my idea of a wonderful way to spend the day after Thanksgiving!

Amen! I agree! I've only been shopping on Black Friday when my husband has dragged me out. He likes to shop on that day, but not me!

Ugh. I stayed home and decorated the house for Christmas! I often get disgusted on "normal" days when shopping at Malls or discount mega-markets, but Black Friday can be a joy zapper if we get out to dodge traffic and rudeness!
I'm glad you spent it (as did I) doing something much more enjoyable!
PS I cannot remember exactly how I was led to your blog. As I say, "They call it the World Wide Web" for a reason! (I think maybe the link was 22 Words.)

Agreed! I was sick yesterday, but wouldn't have gone out anyway. People are crazy on "Black Friday"! =)
