Thankful Thursday, Take 101

Thanking God this week for...
  • the opportunity to get to know a real-life friend through her blog
  • the way our democratic nation changes leaders peacefully, with pomp and circumstance, the old leader applauding the new one--no bloodshed or violence. have you ever considered how amazing that is?
  • wise counsel from a godly older couple
  • friends who will watch Elijah
  • the time I got to spend alone with Him last Saturday
  • my wonderful husband, who freed me to go
  • cinnamon dolce lattes
  • whole grain baguettes dipped in hot soup
  • hot paninis
  • journals
  • the joy of Elijah's drunken toddle around the house
  • a phone conversation with an old friend
  • hope for change
  • freedom
  • reassurance that He is FOR me
  • the privilege of serving others in simple ways
  • the gift of the Holy Spirit
  • peace with Himself through His Son's shed blood on the cross
  • declaring me innocent of sin and crediting me with the perfect righteousness of Christ

I've been thinking a lot this week and last about "the peaceful transfer of power." We take it for granted. It struck me how peaceful it is when I saw Bush sitting right there close to, and applauding, his successor, with a crowd of what, 3 million?

I know, I hadn't thought much about it until I was watching the inauguration and someone (Dianne Feinstein?) mentioned it. When I stopped to consider it, I really was amazed and grateful.

I'm looking forward to getting to know you a little bit more through your blog. Going to take some time and read through the back posts!

Have a wonderful Monday! BTW--do you know Heather Lang? I saw her on your sidebar. I know her.
