NaBloPoMo 2009

Hard to believe it's that time of year again: National Blog Posting Month!

This will be my fourth (also hard to believe) year participating in the challenge. It's pretty simple: post on your blog every day for a month. Keep it up for all of November, and you have a chance to win some awesome prizes! I'm hoping this will be my year.

So, get ready for a flurry of posting starting this week. I've got a list of ideas and I'm hoping I'll be hit with plenty of inspiration along the way. In the meantime, I'll throw out a question for my readers: What's something you'd enjoy reading about here at Lavender *Sparkles*? I can't promise I'll take the bait, but I'd love to hear what you're interested in hearing from me.

Let me know if you're joining in--it's a lot of fun (mostly) and a great way to discipline yourself to write more.

I always enjoy whatever you have got on in Sparkles. but now that you ask:

a) how about going through a Bible book and posting a week's worth of devotions;

b) more on what you're glad you did while at college and what you would do different given a chance-you did one post on it, and it really hit home.more please!

c) easily mulitipliable recipes-by that i mean creative nutritous recipes for 8+ people.

I already missed posting yesterday!! Does that mean I'm out?

bummer! yep, that means you're out as far as prize eligibility--but you could still take the challenge to post every day from now on!

I've found it helpful to pre-schedule posts when I know I'll be busy/gone. Like, I know this week is going to be very full, so I spent time last week writing a bunch of posts for this week. I fast from the computer on Sundays, so I have to pre-schedule those, too. I'm so glad Blogger has that feature now.

Do you have to officially sign up before starting? I mean, I posted y'day w/o having signed up?

Ideas? I love reading people's memoirs. I would love to hear more about your childhood, your dog Molly,
your high school days, most embarrassing moments. I'm talking about 3-4 short paragraphs--a "slice of life" in a stream of conscious sort of way to give yourself freedom to jump from age 5 to 15, back to 9, up to 19, etc.

if you posted yesterday, Zo, you're good to go--you can still join in!

Stink-o! Oh well, I will still try to write every day. So there are no suggestions on a topic to write about each day? I didn't see any on the site.

no topic ideas, Marcy, but you might try subscribing to Plinky.com. I haven't used it, but they post a new prompt every day.

For Marcy (and anyone), I posted a prompt today. Maybe we can suggest prompts for each other. I would like memoir prompts.

Good idea Zoanna! I may do that after reading yours.

Hey Amy! Well, I did it. I started a blog and have decided to do the thingy. NaBloPoMo. I guess you could say you inspired me to dream big.

This is great for me! I often read blogs in the middle of the night when I'm up with Sarah, so it's fun for me to have a new post from you to look forward to every time!

As far as what I'd like to read...(besides anything you write because I like your blog :))...

Maybe some more daily life stuff. What do your days look like? How do you spend your time? How do you apply what you are learning to things like dishes and laundry and Elijah and down time? What do you do with Elijah to have fun?

Also, you very humbly write about where you are struggling and what the Lord is teaching you, but how about a success story? Maybe an excerpt from your day of, "Three years ago, I would have reacted to this situation like ___, but because of the work of God in my life, today I responded with _____." It's encouraging to hear the the Lord really does change people, and I think it's good for us, too, to remember how far the Lord has brought us.
